Power of Words providing you with Institute of Directors Professional Development.

Whether you are looking to progress your career, enhance your knowledge or transform your board’s performance, we have the right courses and qualifications to support you and your business.

A Directors role is to look after the affairs of the company, in a position of trust. The key purpose to ensure the company’s prosperity by collectively directing the company’s affairs, establishing vision, mission, values, strategic goals and ensuring the organisational structure and capabilities are appropriate for implementing these chosen strategies. Plus the ever-changing challenges and issues relating to governance, social responsibility, ethics, regulatory compliance and so on.

Much of company law can be seen as a balance between allowing directors to manage the company’s business so as to make a profit, and preventing them from abusing this freedom.

What this all add’s up to is the need for professional directors, informed and fully understanding of roles and responsibilities. The IoD Gibraltar is part of the IoD Uk, the leading business network offering certified Director Training. Helping businesses of all sizes to access the essential skills, powerful insights and opportunities they need to succeed. “I signed up not necessarily expecting too much. As an initial introduction it surpassed my expectations. Jo has an easy but very effective manner of presenting and involving all of the target audience. As someone new to the NED world I wish that I had done this before taking up a new directorship- it is an eye opener. I am definitely looking forward to some of the more intensive IOD courses that I have signed up to in coming months.”
Tony Welsh
Managing Director, Gibraltar (Course leader Jo Haigh)

“As a director and chairman of small and medium size companies having recently retired from executive responsibilities I now turn to a new phase of my life. For some years I have had the pleasure of mentoring entrepreneurs to develop their ideas into small business units. I now have the time to share my knowledge and experience as a non executive director but was unsure of the role and legal responsibilities. This one day course organised by the IOD at the University of Gibraltar not only gave me this practical understanding but also guided us to how best we could help create a more effective board and add value in the board room. I also found it stimulating to meet with like minded directors, a great networking opportunity.”
Paul Moody
Chairman, Gibraltar (Course leader Jo Haigh)

“I have no doubt I will be a more effective non-executive director having attended this course!” Martyn Gardiner – Singleton Birch

“An excellent course for someone venturing into this field for the first time and extremely well presented throughout.” Ian McNaught – deputy master, Trinity House

“A comprehensive review of directors’ responsibilities and board governance issues. The course combined stimulating discussions with exercises that were delivered to an excellent standard.” Simon Rodgers chief executive, Nuffield Health

“We have already scheduled in our strategy meeting and will be utilising the models worked on during the course as the basis for all discussion.” Paul Foster -project director, Ener-g Holdings plc
